Jamie Foxx Credits Daughter Corinne With Saving His Life During 2023 Medical Emergency

Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx has revealed that he remembers very little about the medical emergency that nearly claimed his life in 2023, but one thing has become unmistakably clear to him: his daughter, Corinne Foxx, played a critical role in ensuring he survived.

Speaking during a recent appearance on Keke Palmer’s Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast, Foxx shared that after recovering, he met with the physician who treated him in Atlanta to better understand what had happened while he was unconscious. According to the actor, the doctor’s message was direct and emotional: without Corinne’s quick actions, he likely would not have survived.

Foxx explained that he has little memory of the early days of his hospitalization after suffering a brain bleed that led to a stroke. Corinne, however, recalled immediately shifting into “caretaking mode,” making critical decisions, coordinating with medical professionals and protecting her father’s privacy as rumors about his condition spread online. Rather than responding to widespread speculation, she remained focused on his recovery and supporting their family through the crisis.

Reflecting on the experience, Foxx said his doctor told him, “Your daughter saved your life,” a statement that gave him an even deeper appreciation for Corinne’s strength and composure during one of the most difficult moments either of them had ever faced. He compared her determination to a protector stepping in during a family crisis, praising her courage and unwavering commitment.

The actor also revealed that he later returned to the hospital to thank the approximately 60 nurses who cared for him. Medical staff reportedly described his recovery as extraordinary, telling Foxx that very few patients with his condition survive and leave the hospital. The experience has profoundly changed his outlook on life, leaving him with renewed gratitude for his family, his caregivers and the second chance he has been given.

Today, Foxx continues his recovery while returning to work in film and television. As he reflects on the ordeal, he has repeatedly emphasized that Corinne’s calm leadership, resilience and unconditional love were instrumental in helping him overcome one of the greatest challenges of his life, making her not only his daughter but, in his own words, the person who ultimately saved him.
