Jacob Fields TCU Assault Case: Teammate Dozie Ezukanma Hospitalized With Brain Bleed Following Alleged Locker Room Attack

Former TCU safety Jacob Fields is facing an aggravated assault charge following an alleged locker room attack that left teammate Dozie Ezukanma hospitalized with a brain bleed and concussion, according to an arrest affidavit released by authorities. The incident, which reportedly occurred on August 13, 2026, has drawn widespread attention across the college football community and prompted an ongoing criminal investigation.

According to investigators, the altercation took place inside the TCU football locker room after football practice. Witnesses told police that Fields allegedly struck Ezukanma in the head from behind, causing him to fall unconscious. The affidavit further states that Fields allegedly kicked Ezukanma in the head while he was on the ground. Medical personnel later determined that Ezukanma had suffered a brain bleed, concussion and additional injuries requiring hospitalization for three days. Doctors reportedly indicated that the brain bleed could have become life-threatening without prompt treatment.

The affidavit also states that Ezukanma was taken to the hospital after complaining of severe headaches. A CT scan revealed the brain bleed, and he received medication to control pain and blood pressure while doctors monitored his condition. TCU dismissed Fields from the football program several days after the incident, citing a violation of team rules. He later surrendered to authorities and was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury before being released on a $50,000 bond. Fields’ attorney has disputed aspects of the allegations, describing portions of the public narrative as incomplete and inaccurate.

Ezukanma did not travel with the Horned Frogs for their season opener in Dublin, Ireland, as he continued recovering from his injuries. Meanwhile, the case remains under investigation as prosecutors review the evidence surrounding the alleged assault. TCU officials have declined to comment extensively on the pending legal proceedings but have emphasized that player safety remains a priority.
