Charles A. Mundell Obituary, Athol MA, Death: Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather Dies After Courageous Cancer Battle

Charles “Chuck” A. Mundell, 67, of Sanders Street in Athol, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, surrounded by his family. He had courageously battled cancer for two years.

Born on December 30, 1958, Chuck will be remembered above all for his deep love of family and the happiness he found in spending time with those closest to him. He treasured the moments shared with his loved ones and created memories that will remain with his family for years to come.

Chuck also had a special fondness for animals and birds. His loyal dog and best friend, Milo, held a particularly special place in his heart and was a cherished companion throughout his life.

A driver for much of his working life, Chuck was also known as a “Jack of all trades,” with a particular interest and skill in masonry. His practical nature and willingness to work with his hands were among the qualities that helped define him.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years, Karen (Murphy) Mundell; his sons, Christopher and his wife, Heidi, and Corey and his wife, Katie; and his beloved granddaughters, Emma Lynn and Kaelly Grace, whom he adored. He also leaves his brothers Harry, Dennis, Carl, Bob and Troy, and sisters Helen, Debbie, Tina, Tammy and Dee-Dee, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Chuck’s request, there will be no calling hours. He will be cremated, and a celebration of his life will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026, at American Legion Edward H. Phillips Post 102, 325 Pequoig Avenue, Athol.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or a local animal shelter in Chuck’s memory.
