Daniel Hussein Obituary, Melbourne, Death: 22-Year-Old Plumber Fatally Shot in Thomastown Days Before Wedding

Daniel Hussein, a 22-year-old plumber from Melbourne, has been remembered by his family and friends following his fatal shooting in Thomastown, a tragedy that occurred only weeks before he was due to marry.

Hussein was shot at HR Uren Reserve on Victoria Drive at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Emergency services attended the scene and attempted to revive him, but he died at the scene. His death has left his family devastated, particularly because of the future he was preparing to build with his fiancée.

Family members described Hussein as a hardworking young man who had recently purchased a home and was looking forward to his wedding. His brother said Hussein had been called to the area to help a friend, while police have said they believe he may have been involved in a confrontation with the offender or offenders shortly before the shooting. Investigators have continued to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation has since developed, with police arresting two men from Donnybrook, aged 19 and 20, and a 19-year-old woman from Lalor in Deer Park on September 9. The three were being interviewed by Homicide Squad detectives as investigators worked to establish the circumstances and motive behind Hussein’s death.
