Officer Jeremy Boykins Obituary, West Palm Beach: Police Officer Remembered for Service and Sacrifice

Officer Jeremy Boykins, a dedicated member of the West Palm Beach Police Department, is remembered for his service, courage and commitment to the community following his line-of-duty death on September 10, 2024.

Boykins, 29, died after suffering a medical emergency while participating in tryouts for the department’s Emergency Field Force Team. He was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center after becoming ill during the training and died after undergoing treatment. The Officer Down Memorial Page records his cause of death as a heart attack.

Boykins joined the West Palm Beach Police Department on May 2, 2022. He initially served in the patrol division before being transferred to the Bike Team in March 2024. His career, though relatively brief, was marked by acts of service and recognition from the department.

Among his honors was the Anthony Testa Tactical Lifesaving Award, presented for his actions in saving a gunshot victim on December 29, 2022. He also received three certificates of commendation and a certificate of appreciation during his service.

West Palm Beach Police Chief Frank Adderley described Boykins as a dedicated officer and a beloved friend and colleague. His death brought fellow officers together at the hospital as the department and wider law-enforcement community mourned the loss of one of their own.

Beyond his badge, Boykins was a husband and father. He is survived by his wife and two children, who continue to carry his memory and legacy.

The City of West Palm Beach has since formally honored Boykins as one of its fallen officers. His name was engraved on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Wall, ensuring that his service and sacrifice remain part of the nation’s law-enforcement history.
