Kevin Hynes Obituary, Delmar, New York, Death: Wynantskill Man, 62, Dies From Injuries Sustained in Delaware Avenue Crash

The Wynantskill, New York, community is mourning the death of Kevin P. Hynes, 62, who died over the weekend from injuries sustained in a serious motor vehicle crash on Delaware Avenue in Delmar. The collision occurred near Fisher Boulevard on August 24, 2026, according to the Bethlehem Police Department.

Police responded to the crash at approximately 7:27 a.m., along with fire and emergency medical personnel. Investigators determined that Hynes was traveling westbound on Delaware Avenue when another vehicle, operated by Daniel Holleran, 71, attempted to make a left turn and failed to yield the right of way.

Hynes avoided a direct collision with Holleran’s vehicle but, during the evasive maneuver, entered the eastbound lane. His vehicle subsequently collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Christopher M. Hadsell, 48, of East Berne. Hynes sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. He later died from those injuries.

The subsequent investigation resulted in Holleran receiving a Uniform Traffic Ticket for failure to yield while making a left turn, under New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law § 1141. Police also determined that alcohol or illegal substances were not contributing factors in the crash.

News of Hynes’ death has brought sadness to his family, friends and the wider Wynantskill and Delmar communities. His passing came after what initially appeared to be a serious roadway collision, leaving loved ones to cope with the loss while authorities completed their investigation.
